Dr. Glenn Saul, Interim Pastor
Dr. Glenn Saul was elected by the church as Interim Pastor on June 24, 2009. In addition to leading First Baptist Church, Sun City West, Dr. Saul currently serves as Professor of Religion for Wayland Baptist University's Phoenix Campus. He has a special affection for Wayland, having earned a B.A. from the Plainview, Texas, school in 1962. He then went on to earn a Bachelor of Divinity (B.D.) from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in 1966 and a Master of Theology (Th.M) and Doctor of Philosophy(Ph.D) from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1969 and 1972 respectively.
Both the pastorate and academia have been important parts of Dr. Saul's life. In partnership with his wife, Rosemary, he pastored churches in California, Kentucky and Arizona. His bountiful gift as an Interim Pastor is evidenced by the fourteen churches that have called him to lead their congregations through periods of change and transition.
Dr. Saul's rich background of academic excellence includes positions at Golden Gate Seminary and three Wayland campuses. After serving 5 1/2 years as Vice President for Academic Services on the Plainview campus, he returned to Phoenix to teach.
When asked to comment on his election as Interim Pastor, Dr. Saul said, "Rosemary and I are deeply honored and humbled by our church's vote of confidence in this matter. We look forward to serving here and ask the membership to please pray for us as we take on this new ministry challenge".
