Who We Are
Dr. Ron Hornecker - Minister of Counseling
Dr. Ron Hornecker began his service as Minister of Counseling in February 2007. He is available to individuals, couples, and families, both within the church and from the community, who need assistance in addressing the normal range of life issues with which consultation is sometimes needed. Additionally, he gives leadership to the church's grief and caregiver support groups.
Ron comes to this part-time ministry after having served twenty-two years on the faculty of Golden Gate Seminary (1985-2006), from which he retired in July 2006. There he directed both the Doctor of Ministry and field education programs. From 1999-2004, he served as a part of the on-call staff at the Lloyd Center Pastoral Counseling Center in San Anselmo, CA. Prior to these ministries, he served as pastor of four churches in Northwest Missouri (1963-1985).
He received his BA from Northwest Missouri State University and his M.Div. and D.Min. degrees from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO. Throughout his ministry, helping individuals to work through the passages of life where persons sometimes get stuck has been a part of his focus. His training and equipping for this ministry has occurred in a number of different ways, including the completion of an approved American Association of Pastoral Counselors training program. He presently is certified at the highest level, as "Fellow," by that organization.
He and his wife, Loretta, have a daughter and a son, both adults, and three grandchildren.
